Great adventure game :)

This has to be one of the better (if not the best) adventure games to hit NG in a loooonnnnggggg time. The combination of excellent voice-acting, in-depth story, and beautiful graphics make this a true work of art. Not to mention the dynamic game engine and extensive powers.

Pros:
-The character art and animation are practically seamless.
-The environments are highly detailed and give the game an epic feel.
-Great story and voice talent, as well as engaging cut-scenes.

Cons:
-Despite the awesome engine, things got a bit glitchy at times, although it never hindered gameplay.
-Combat was a little slow for my taste, but seemed to function well enough.

All in all, you did a great job of blending some great elements together and producing a solid adventure experience. The enemies were a bit monotonous, but the bosses were BADASS.

Addictive, but static

Personally, I'm a big fan of these types of games. Mindless smashing, explosions, timed goals, etc. I can safely say this one qualifies as one of the more entertaining Smash'em Up games.

The art and animation was simplistic, yet served its purpose. Gameplay was smooth enough, and the explosions were pretty gnarly.
My main beef though, is that the game lacked dynamic elements which would have made its replay value greater. For instance, more building types, car types, and plain types -- all with random strength. Also, it's good that you included main objectives, but it seemed to lack side-objectives, such as combo goals and such.

Nice attempt, and you're off to a good start on this series. Just make the gameplay a bit more dynamic in the next installment. I'll play it!

Beautiful

Wow, I was thoroughly impressed with this.
Initially, I wasn't very dazzled by the actually gameplay, until I discovered it was so much more than just a generic shooting game.

Apparently, this "game" is an exercise in creative art. The interactivity is solely there to engage the audience initially, but the main point of this is to immerse the player in a series of surreal environments.

The art was captivating, and the seamless transition from scene to scene was excellent. My only complaint was that it wasn't longer.

Holy. Shit.

This has to be one of the most advanced, professionally scripted flash games ever developed. As a junior flash dev, I can relate to how tricky it can be to actually script a game that is based around timed attacks, dynamic maneuvers, and other such aspects. AMAZING.

The art is perfect, and each individual character was done to perfection. Even better, the animations were top-notch, considering it was all frame-by-frame.

I was also impressed with how flexible and dynamic the actual game engine was (the action-cam was great), and how the damage inflicted corresponded perfectly with the animations.
However, my only beef is that, although you chose many worthy NG celebs (Pico, Alloy, Salad Fingers), it seems you missed some pretty important ones, like Dad (from Dad'n Me), and possibly the Madness protagonist.

All in all, this has to be one of the most dynamic flash games in creation, featuring insane art/animation, and an awesome engine.

Amazing! 5/5!!

Wow! I was thoroughly impressed with what you've done with the whole starfighter genre...

Firstly, the whole concept of this game is totally innovative. I loved the feel of fighting along side equally important AI players, and knowing that I actually had to put forth some effort in order to accomplish anything. Most games make you have a major advantage over the enemies, whereas this one made you feel as if you were just another ship.

The menu was polished, the in-game graphics were stylish, the gameplay was fast and reasonably difficult, and the plot was oh-so clever.

You guys MUST make a sequel, and include some power-ups, upgrades, and possibly multiplayer (seriously, though, wouldn't this be the perfect MP game??).

P.S. Making the ships more maneuverable and the shots more rapid would certainly improve the game...

Toast...Okkaaaayyyy....

Dude, why toast? I mean, I could understand animals...but toast? I'm lost, but oh well.

Anyway, I liked the idea of the game. It's good natured, and I dig the random humor. However, in terms of gameplay, it doesn't really float my boat. Don't get me wrong; the game's completely functional, and it appears to do everything you wanted it to do. It's just that it didn't do that much. That is, the combat was pretty repetitious, it ran a bit too slowly, and other than the fact that the protagonist was a piece of toast (WTF?), it didn't really stand out at all.

However, I liked the simplistic art and style, the music was pleasant, and levels were well designed with some fun elements scattered here and there.

sinaiman responds:

I'm glad you still liked it, aside from the gameplay.

Why not toast? What would be so significant if the hero was an animal, it's been done before...but a toast...not so much, hehe.

Hehe, i'm glad you were able to enjoy some of it, with your dislikes aside , thanks for reviewing :)!

Can't wait!

This game is so incredible! It features the nicest looking platformer engine I've ever seen done with flash! I spent a good 10 minutes trying to figure out how you coded it...And I've come to the conclusion it's above my head :)

Anyway, beautiful art, creative environments, and incredibly smooth gameplay. I'm very impressed with the vast array of animations this features, and they all look so lifelike! I also like how you implement elements from Sonic and Mario -- brilliantly done.

Fun + addicting!

I loved this one! Had me playing for roughly 13 minutes, which is an incredible amount of time to be playing a flash game.

The gameplay was smooth, complex, fast, and addicting. In addition, the style and effects complimented the actual gameplay dramatically.
I'm surprised all the action (e.g multiple balls, explosions etc) didn't slow my PC down at all. It continued to run smoothly, which is almost unheard of with many recent flash games/movies.

Great powerups, great style, nice music! 5/5

My only complained was that the text was a bit hard to read...

Awesome!

Hey Grant, this is Brian.

I think all that worked payed off, honestly. The graphics, animation, and effects were definitely well done, and it's obvious you put a lot of heart and imagination into it.

Anyway, the levels seemed pretty long, actually. The game was a good length.
However, there were a few flaws. For instance, the mech glitched out on me once (it stopped moving), which made me restart the whole game. Also, there were a few jumping glitches, but for the most part, it was pretty clean.

One more thing: The bosses were BADASS! The final boss was the coolest, in my opinion.

Can't wait to get the scoop on the next BOA project,
Brian

Pretty awesome, but with one huge fault...

The graphics, animation, and other visual elements were awesome! It was faced-paced, frantic, and totally insane.

With that said, however, this game has one MAJOR problem:
You're too preoccupied with pounding the directional keys to seriously notice any of the action. That was disappointing for me, especially since you did such a good job with the art and animation.

It was also too difficult, but that's not the reason I have a beef with this game.

Sick concept, it's just that you didn't pull it off as well as you could.
